Attacks
AI assisted attacks
How is AI changing attacks on businesses?
Artificial intelligence changes above all the quality and the volume. Fraudulent emails are written in flawless German, they refer to your industry, and voices can be imitated.
The old signs of recognition therefore lose their value. The clumsy salutation and the spelling mistake were long the clues by which a fraudulent email was spotted. Your staff can no longer rely on them.
Voice imitation has to be taken seriously. A call that sounds like the managing director and demands an urgent transfer is no longer imagination. The same applies to video calls.
The defence is therefore organisational. Payments and changes to bank details require confirmation through a second channel that you choose yourself, for example a call back to the known number. That principle holds regardless of how convincing the message sounds.
