# IT security check

**What is an IT security check?**

An IT security check is a structured review of a company's IT. It records the current state of network, servers, workstations and access, rates the risks it finds and orders them by urgency.

The term covers very different services in practice, from an automated online scan to a multi-day review by a whole team. Three points decide how much a check is worth: its scope, whether someone actually looks at the server room and the systems on site, and the form in which you receive the result.

The vetosec IT Check covers 8 audit areas with more than 100 individual checks. Data capture on site takes 1 to 5 hours depending on the size of your business. It is read-only, meaning we only read and document, and it runs without interruption while your business carries on. You receive the documented findings and a prioritised action plan within 14 working days.
